First Gig of the New Term
Posted on September 14, 2021

We’re back with a bang this term! One week in and our students were performing at their first gig and it was a biggie!

The Colchester Senior band were invited to perform at the Anti Loo Roll Festival in Castle Park, also on the line up were Scouting for Girls, Jake Quickenden and Matt Cardle so you can imagine the students were excited to be part of it and we were really happy to support such a great cause. The Anti Loo Roll Brigade was set up as a response to the panic buying during the early days of the Covid 19 pandemic; with the initial aim of setting up a support network for those who needed help to get through lockdown, as the pandemic grew so did the group and they’ve now set up a huge support network becoming a lifeline for our local Elderly, disabled and isolating community and arranged prescription delivery services, provided education services as well as providing food, gifts and much needed positivity to our local NHS and care homes. The festival was raising funds for them to continue their incredible work in our local community. You can find out more about their initiatives here https://antilooroll.co.uk

Our tutors ran a drum workshop for festival goers to have an introduction to playing the drums with our tutors and then the students took over and made some noise in the Children’s area. The set list included Detroit Rock City, Best of You and Sugar, We’re Going Down and the crowd loved every track. Check out our social feeds for videos and more pics from the event.

This is the first in a number of gigs we’ve got confirmed for this term, and of course we’re working towards our big Christmas Showcase so if you want to get involved, now’s a great time to start. Contact us to arrange your free taster session.
